RONALD B. KUPPERSMITH MD ELECTED SECRETARY-TREASURER OF NATIONAL MEDICAL SOCIETY FOR EAR, NOSE, AND THROAT SPECIALISTS Alexandria, VA – Ronald B. Kuppersmith MD, in private practice at Texas ENT and Allergy, College Station, TX, has been elected as the Secretary-Treasurer of the American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery and its Foundation, the national medical society representing 12,000 ear, nose, and throat specialists.
Before his election as Secretary-Treasurer, Dr. Kuppersmith served on the Academy’s Board of Directors as the Coordinator for Internet and Information Technology, advancing the medical society’s World Wide Web site, particularly for patient education and members. He has also forwarded physician education through presenting more than 100 lectures before physician groups and authoring or coauthoring approximately two dozen published articles regarding clinical research and technology in medicine. He also serves on the editorial boards of 5 medical publications.
Dr. Kuppersmith received his undergraduate degree in May, 1989, at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. He was accepted into the university’s medical school that year, achieving his Doctor of Medicine (with Distinction in Research) in June, 1993. His specialty education included completion of a general surgery internship and a residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery in June, 1999, at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. After Dr. Kuppersmith started his practice of medicine, he completed a Master of Business Administration at the University of Washington School of Business in Seattle.
Before relocating to Texas, Dr. Kuppersmith was an Attending Physician and a member of the teaching faculty at the Virginia Mason Medical Center in the Section of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, as well as a clinical instructor at the University of Washington Medical School, in Seattle, WA, from 1999 – 2002.
Dr. Kuppersmith, his wife Nicole, and three children reside in College Station, TX.
