Texas ENT and Allergy, Texas A&M Aggie Student-Athletes, and the Texas Medical Association announce that the 2nd Annual Hard Hats for Little Heads event will take place on October 22, 2009. The mission of this event is to ensure that every second grader in Bryan ISD and College Station ISD will receive a helmet in an effort to protect children from head injuries. This a comprehensive educational program stressing helmet safety involving, bicycles, skate boards, ATVs and many other activities. Held at Kyle Field, Hard Hats for Little Heads involves fun activities and presentations made by Aggie Athletics, Coaches, and local police departments. FACTS - Every day there is approximately one fatality as a result of activities involving wheeled sports. - Another 300,000 children are treated in emergency rooms for severe head injuries each year. - If a child wears a helmet during these activitie, the risk of serious head injury is reduced by over 85%. - Less than 40% of children wear a helmet when riding a bike and even fewer when considering all wheeled sports.
