Ronald B. Kuppersmith, MD, Elected President-Elect of the American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery
Chicago, IL – Ronald B. Kuppersmith, MD, has been elected 2008-2009 President-Elect of the American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at the 2008 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO EXPO in Chicago, an event that drew more than 9,000 otolaryngology professionals from around the world.
The American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, one of the oldest medical associations in the nation, represents more than 12,000 physicians and allied health professionals who specialize in the treatment of the ears, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck.
Dr. Kuppersmith is a board-certified otolaryngologist who has practices at Texas ENT and Allergy in Bryan-College Station, TX. He has been an active leader, holding positions including Secretary/Treasurer of the AAO-HNS/F, President-elect of the Texas Association of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Senior Examiner of the American Board of Otolaryngology and is on the Board of Trustees of the College Station Medical Center. Listed as one of the “Best Doctors in America,” Dr. Kuppersmith has also received Distinguished Service and Honor Awards from the AAO-HNS/F. Currently, he serves on the editorial boards of several scientific publications, including Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and has given more than 90 invited lectures in the U.S., Europe, and South America.
As President-Elect of the AAO-HNS, Dr. Kuppersmith hopes to encourage unity among the many subspecialties in otolaryngology. He asserts, “We need to continue to improve relationships and communication between organizations and leaders, allowing each organization to gain from the others’ strengths. Working together will benefit the entire specialty in areas such as research, education, and advocacy.”
Dr. Kuppersmith will assume office as President of the Academy in October 2009.
